Experience

Jesús Buchhalter is a Guatemalan lawyer specialized in international arbitration, with a solid background in investment arbitration, commercial dispute resolution and corporate legal strategy. He has advised and represented multinational corporations, financial institutions and state entities in highly complex cross-border disputes, both in ad hoc proceedings and institutional arbitrations under the rules of UNCITRAL, ICC, ICSID, CRECIG and CENAC.

He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Commercial Arbitration from Stockholm University, where he perfected his knowledge of the frameworks and procedural mechanisms of global arbitration. He also holds an MBA in Finance from EALDE Business School, which complements his legal profile with a solid background in financial structures, risk management and corporate finance. He is a lawyer from Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala, graduated with high honors, and is admitted to practice in the country.

Jesús actively participates in professional organizations such as Young and International (Y&I) of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution® (ICDR®), Young ITA, Young ICCA and Young OGEMID. He also serves as a correspondent for ITA and Kluwer Arbitration in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama, contributing to the strengthening and dissemination of international arbitration in the region.
